the person and the professional
Professional training: Patricie's approach to therapy draws on the combination of her extensive professional training as well as her artistic abilities. She was born in Prague in the former Czechoslovakia. Growing up at the end of the 60s, she wrote original protest songs with spiritual symbolism, accompanied Old Catholic masses, and preformed in small theaters. Despite the obstacles posed by the communist regime, which she openly opposed, she managed to complete her studies in psychology at the Charles University and her doctoral studies at the Psychological Institute of the Academy of Sciences. Her thesis and dissertation focused on the topic of the effectiveness of psychotherapy. During her studies, she completed both: a five-year, individual training in the Penal Research Institute in Prague and training in psychodrama with a prominent actress.
Travels and inspirations: In the fall of the Polish revolutionary year of 1980, she lectured at the Warsaw University where her non-conformist therapeutic approach became inspired by various subjects form political science and philosophy (Adam Michnik) to experimental theater (Jerzy Grotowski, Jozef Szajna, Akademia Ruchu). Thanks to several miraculous coincidences she was allowed to travel to the United States in the second half of the 80s. There she studied intensively at the Esalen Institute - the Californian birthplace of humanistic and transpersonal psychologies - and was guided by her teachers: Stanislav Grof, Ram Das, David Steindl-Rast, Chungliang Al Huang, and Jack Kornfield.
However, her psychotherapeutic approach was mostly informed by her teacher: the American psychiatrist John Weir Perry, direct pupil of C. G. Jung. He pioneered break-through, medication-free healing methods of psychoses that allow for natural, uninterrupted, and supervised journeys through the crises. Though this approach showed high efficacy in the seventies in his San Francisco center, further activity was hindered by the pressures of the pharmaceutical and traditional psychiatric lobbies. Patricie worked with Dr. Perry during the last five years of his life, organized and interpreted his lectures in the Czech Republic; they collaborated on several residential workshops in the castle in Liblice where Patricie lead her experiential programs for groups of sixty to ninety participants.
The active nineties: In the early nineties Patricie initiated the birth of transpersonal psychology in the Czech Republic, including training in holotropic breathing. Patricie is certified in this method by Stanislav Grof; in addition, she lead numerous workshops with his mother, Maria Grof, who was also a trained practitioner. Further Patricie participated in organization of the the world congress in transpersonal psychology in Prague and inspired T'ai-Chi master Al Huang and musician Jiri Stivin to perform together and interpreted Ram Das' lecture.
Currently she uses the holotropic method for inspiration only since she has created her own natural method to achieve multi-dimensional awareness. The participants are readied by gentler, longer preparation including the supervision of a medical doctor and are offered unlimited support for subsequent period of practical application of the achieved changes in their everyday lives.
Since Patricie has always been intensely interested in the spiritual traditions of the aboriginal nations (North-American native tribes, Maoris, Tuareg, Australia's aborigines), she has traveled widely after the fall of the iron curtain.
In the years 1990 to 1997 Patricie broadcast her meditative program, Sources of Knowing, on the Czech radio, which was widely popular. She organized listeners' gatherings across the whole country and all her above-mentioned teachers participated in the broadcasts.
Moreover she wrote screenplays and preformed read plays in her Tea Room with foremost actors, mostly with Jan Potmesil, who also worked with her as a co-therapist for eight years. She created a musical band that accompanied the performances and sang lead vocals. She put out five musical CDs, several CDs of meditations and authored a successful book The Sources of Knowing.
Patricie speaks both fluent English and French, and her unique work was successfully received in the United States, France, Germany, Denmark, and most recently in Australia.
In the heart of nature: In 2002 she opened a center for group work in Rynartice in the heart of a designated national, natural park (Ceske Svycarsko). At that time her method proved intense enough to benefit smaller groups (maximum twelve persons). Her programs: Passionata, Journey, Silencionata, Shamanyka, and Anzara (organized according to increased intensity), offer the opportunity to make use of long-term and highly professional support during the journey of personal growth.
Living in the natural beauty of Rynartice and surroundings, Patricie has returned to writing poetry and other texts. As part of her psychotherapy she has been supporting a healthy life-style, ecological awareness and behaviour. She has helped about five hundred smokers to give up this fatal habit.
The principal focus of Dr. Anzari's work is a far-reaching work with the personal narrative of the client, freeing of the personality from energetical, emotional, and spiritual blocs. Her original method is centered on open, emotional partnership of the client and the therapist that touches all aspects of the narrative. It is deeply beneficial when used individually or with groups. Working with Patricie leads one to trust one's own strength, to gain true independence and gratitude, to deepening empathy, openness and optimism, to weakening of the egocentrism, and to discovering the purpose of one's own narrative.
She is the author of an integrated psychological approach that focuses on refinement of the human behaviour and experience in the new millennium.
On her journey to understanding, Patricie has arrived at findings that are close to those of quantum physics. Spirit is independent of time, and freed consciousness can reach beyond all historical barriers of human knowledge. Our awareness, thinking and activity impact not only our own narrative but also the quality of mankind's evolution.
As the avant-garde guide through the world of emotions, Dr. Anzari creates a powerful and safe environment for deep emotional connection and a range of unconventional yet natural responses. This approach supports self-healing tendencies and trust in one's own abilities and strength, and creates a therapeutic relationship based on co-operation of two equals, free of dependency. For the patient, it is challenging since the therapy goes deep and destroys pride and egocentrism which is never painless. It is imperative that the client actively co-operates.
Unprecedented luxury: the client in individual therapy has 24-hour telephone access to Dr. Anzari to work through challenging states or situations. Thus, the effect of the therapy is strengthened.
Since this process is powerful and intense, the psychotherapy takes months not years. For initiatory therapy, five two-hour sessions are recommended (one therapeutic hour is 50 minutes). To prevent setbacks and enjoy the benefits fully, clients are wise to make use of twice yearly follow-up sessions.
In case of partial problems in the area of relationships, raising of children, career or other, one consultation may be sufficient. However, it is necessary that termination of therapy is mutually agreed upon; otherwise the therapist cannot guarantee the results.
Since Dr. Anzari stands behind her work, it is advised that clients in individual therapy with her do not see other therapists or participate in other programs or workshops of self-improvement at the same time to avoid interference that would hinder speedy progress. In case of clients in psychiatric care, the approval of their doctor is necessary.
